KVM switch help. (switch pc's with desktop shortcut?)

Hey all, I'm really not sure where to post this question, so I may pull a no no, and double post it over in the hardware forum as well. But I thought I'd ask here too.

I have a simple KVM switch hooking up two PC's to one keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Problem is, you can only switch PC's if you're sitting at the keyboard, so you can hit the key-sequence, (Scroll-lock, Scroll-lock, up-arrow.) But I connect to my PC's remotely quite a bit. And I would like to be able to just connect to one, and then switch PC's via the KVM. Really not sure if this is possible. But if it is possible, is there a way to create a desktop shortcut that mimics the key sequence to change pc's?

My KVM is a simple cable based Belkin model.
Thanks.

Remote controll connects to a computer, not a monitor or keyboard. A KVM swich will not be able to switch your remote conection.

Instead, each machine should be connected to the internet and configured to accept remote conections from two different ports. Then, when you need to remote control, you can access each machine by their port number.
