Angry Maxtor 120gb & Seagate 300gb not recognizing in Bios IDE

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to add a second hard drive to my existing Maxtor 120gb
drive that has the Window XP Pro OS installed. When trying to add the Seagate 300gb drive it won't recognize it in my Bios detecting boot up. I troubleshoot it and unplugged the Primary drive (Maxtor) and just left the unformatted drive (New Seagate) to the slave IDE cable. Reboot the system and it does recognizes the drive in the Bios IDE boot up and my cd-rom, dvd drive are there.

Why is it that having both drives connected into the same Cable IDE channel 0, one being the Primary (Maxtor-master) and Secondary (Seagate-slave) do not shows up in the bios. It goes thru the processed and has a message showing detecting arrays. My Pc is not setup as Raid so why should it acting like this. Please help someone. My jumpers setting are correct. I using a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 Motherboard with the lastest version Bios. Please help me if any of you are encountering the same situation. thanks

In some cases (mostly with Dell Systems) , if you add a second hard drive to the primary IDE channel, you have to set the slave drive jumper to Cable Select (CS) in order to have it recognized in BIOS.

Cheers
