Exclamation Continual Sound Issues...

Hello!

I recently upgraded my computer due to previous sound problems with a new motherboard and processor.

Now that I am happily running, files all back where they belong, and programs loaded, my sound is giving me problems. The first was I could barely hear it. I decided it might have something to do with the front panel connections, so I disconnected them and put the jumpers back on. Since I was going to be in there, I bought a cheap (this could be the reason, but anyway) sound card. I don't have a lot of speakers, just simple desktop speakers so I didn't get one with all the bells and whistles I won't use. At any rate I got it all together and installed/updated drivers and I am still having sound problems. Only now it works for a little while (ranging from five to fifteen minutes) then bye bye sound. If I reboot it comes back, but I always loose it.

In the device manager it shows a conflict with the game port driver for this sound card (which I don't think I need since I don't use joysticks etc. to play games). Would disabling it possibly solve this problem and allow everything to work properly? The error it gives is there are not enough resources for the device to work properly.

Now, the entire reason I started this venture was sound problems with the old setup, and it seems they are following me around. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I have never had these problems until a few weeks ago and the origio problem still exists, just in a different form. I am almost at the point to give up and fork over the money to have it fixed for me, but I thought I'd ask here before I throw in the towel.

System:
gigabyte motherboard (GA-K8NS)
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processor
NvIDEA GForce FX 5500
and please don't laugh!!! Mad Dog Multimedia prowler 4.1 sound card
1 G of ram

Thanks in advance.... Mathlete

Well I took that sound card back, and have sound working properly now. Except for the front pannel hook ups, but I give up... its working from the card itself now so thats all I'm messing with... been a long road getting just the sound to work right.
