Problem installing Network Card Driver

When attempting to install a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC, I get the following error message:-

"An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The data is invalid."

I have tried the solution suggested in the Microsoft Knowlege Base Article - 810882. But this has made no differance. I have also downloaded new drivers from the manufactures, but the error has persisted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
