Question 10 minute start up

I have a sony vaio fx240 and it is taking at least 10 minutes to start up my computer. I have tried to cut back on the number of programs running at start up and that does not help. I am planning to add more RAM this weekend hoping it helps. I did upgrade to windows XP. The system only has 10 GB hard drive and 128 RAM. Any body know why this is happening or why and how to fix it would be great. My sister has the same computer and does not have this problem.. ( but does not have windows xp)
Thanks

Minimum system requirement for Windows XP is a lot higher then other versions, and you with 128 Meg only meet the minimum requirement:

Adding more RAM will help a lot with the slow start up.

You can give it a try since you bought them already....but it's always a good idea to listen to what manufacturer has to say, specially when it come to RAM for Laptop.

Cheers

You're Pc is struggling, mainly due to the size of the HDD, a RAM upgrade will help, but not much if your HDD is too small to cope, as XP needs a lot of room to install, and work correctly,

I'd recommend getting a minimum of a 40GB HDD before having XP on there, you could use this as a master drive and your 10 GB HDD as a slave.
