Help w/ TV Tuner Card and Computer Crashing Issues

Hello,

Well, I recently took the plunge and bought the Hauppauge WinTv PCI Tuner card for my new Compaq SR1650NX computer.

When I installed the card, the computer had a hard time restarting. I tried again and Windows loaded this time, recognizing new a PCI device, but not finding a driver for it, even on the WinTv CD.

I tried to install the drivers on the CD directly and it failed installation saying that there was no Tuner card installed, even when the computer recognized that a new PCI card was installed.

I went to the hauppage website and downloaded the drivers directly for the card. After installing them, the computer attempted to restart. Now EVERYtime I restart the computer, it will not even load windows. Not even the windows startup screen comes up. The computer just turns on.. and thats it.

So, I pulled out the Tuner card, and the computer came back and windows loaded. I noticed there are some lists of Motherboards and Chipsets that may not work or require new drivers..etc so that it will work with this card, but I cannot figure out what I need exactly.

Can you please help?!!?

What do I need to download and install so that this card will work properly with my computer.

Thanks a ton for the help!
Rob Augino

Did you try the tv card in all three pci slots? it could be an irq conflict.

Tried that, other suggestions?

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. It seems to me it is not faulty merchandise so much as it is a conflict with my chipset or something and I could very well only need to download some sort of new drivers to get it to work. The problem is that I don't know what drivers to download and for what.. my motherboard? My chipset (what is that anyway!?) etc...

I tried the different slots, nothing.

Help!
Rob
