Rain like Grains in LCD Monitor
I have bought a 17" LG LCD Monitor.
When I run the monitor at 1280x1024 (75 Hertz) it gives rain like grains on places where images (desktop wallpaper, etc...) are there. Also running the monitor at any lower resolution makes the image quality very poor.
Is it because I have got 128 MB RAM and a cheap graphics card (Vintron 32 MB)? Or is it because there is some problem with LCD Monitor?
Note: I have a Sony 15" LCD which runs at 1024x768 (75 Hertz), It runs perfectly on my computer.

I recently moved from a 15" to a 17" LCD monitor (NEC - Mitsubishi). I had to do a driver update to get some things to work right (including how my mouse acted with scroll bars).
Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor > Properties > Driver > Update Driver
I'm curious why you're using 75 Hertz. On my monitor I can't tell the difference between 60 and 75 (I wasn't able to duplicate "rain like grains") but the documentation that came with my monitor recommends 60 Hertz for optimal display performance. Also, are you using 96 dpi or 120?
Microsoft's "Plug and Play" is supposed to automatically optimize display performance and the monitor came with a feature called "No-Touch Auto Adjust", but there are on-screen controls to adjust the different elements. Have you tried manually adjusting any of the elements?
For displaying colors, analog input is dependent on the display card your using. I'm still using the card that came with my computer and I don't really know if yours could cause this sort of effect or if low RAM would be an issue. My documentation recommends that the user "Check the monitor and display card with respect to compatibility and recommended signal timings" but I don't know how to address this other than updating the driver.
I'm still trying to see if I can duplicate what you're seeing on my monitor.

[EDIT] Have you read your User Manual? No insult intended. I got my new monitor 2 weeks ago and I didn't read the manual until I saw your post.

All my drivers (Monitor and Graphics Card) are updated.
In my 17" LCD there is a major difference between 60 Hertz and 75 Hertz. Image quality is very low in 60 Hertz. 60 Hertz has less grains but it still has.
Plug and Play did not work.
Yes I tried manually adjusting, that did not help so I went back to "Factory Settings".
Yes, I have read the User Manual. 1280x1024, 32 bit, 75 Hertz is recommended.
The grains are not on a specific place. Where ever the images/photos/movies is present heavy rain like grains appear. If I close the image the grains disappear.
Do you think upgrading my computer to 256 MB RAM and 64 MB graphics card will solve the problem? Or is it something to do with the Monitor?
How much RAM and graphics card memory does your computer have?
[Edit] DPI: 96

1280X1024, 32 bit, 60 Hertz, 96 dpi is recommended on mine.
I have 768 MB Ram and 64 MB graphics
I haven't been able to duplicate the effect you're getting. I Don't know what effect increasing RAM would have on situation.

Thanks for your reply.
Hmm strange now my mouse keeps getting stuck every 5 minutes. Never had any problem with 15" LCD.
I am going to buy 256 MB RAM and a 64 MB graphics card on Monday. I hope that will solve it or else I will have to ship the monitor back :/
I think it is due to graphics card, because monitor displays the information what graphics card sends. But again 15" LCD Monitor works perfectly on current computer.

One other setting I changed when my mouse was acting "strange" was to decrease my hardware acceleration. I wasn't aware that there was a setting that said, "Disable cursor and bitmap accelerations. Use this setting to correct problems with the mouse pointer, or to correct problems with corrupt images." I've been using this setting and everything about my monitor and mouse are normal.

A suggestion before you spend any more money.
Since flat panel screens are a lot easier to carry around under your arm than regular monitors, maybe you can find someone who will let you hook up your LCD to their computer and see if you get the same results. Of course, it would have to be someone willing to download the drivers. It would give you a chance to go around and show off your new screen. Just a thought.
Another thought. Check the cable.

Bummer. Better luck with the next one. But, at least, you now know what the problem was, and that sure beats the frustration of having something wrong and not being able to figure it out, let alone fix it.
Good luck.

Before I would do anything at least upgrade to 256megs of ram. At 128 megs, XP is using most of your ram and putting everything into pagefile. Personally I would go to 512 megs of ram and at the minimun a radeon 7500 64 meg ddr video card wich can be had for around $50 US. I would put money on it that that would fix it.
Sorry, for some reason the last few posts did not show when I replied. Glad it is fixed.
