Cool starting up problem (i need help)

I was playing a game last night. In the middle of my game, all of a sudden, the system shuts down without any warning. I restarted my pc and then it doesn't start up anymore. The only thing I could hear is a long beep (about 6 seconds) coming from the CPU but the monitor doesn't pull up images. So, Guys, if someone has encountered this scenario please help me.

The status of my computer before this thing happened goes like this:
1. The desktop turns yellowish often times.
2. The screen also blinks often times as if there is static.
3. My PC is an old PC. I bought in 2001. The only parts that I have changed were the floppy, hard disk and video card.

0_o Ah, you don't know what RAM is? You may be thinking IDE cables by that desc.

Anyway, the RAM should look like one of these:

If he guessed right, you're going to be needing some new ones. Although the ones you have now could just be poorly seated (meaning not lined up properly in the slot.)
