Now this has never happend before and I got quite a good computer brain so am not dumb at this kind of stuff, but then I left it for a few minites thinking it would load up properley but then my mouse froze aswell, so I thought that I would have to restart it again, which I did then it was all down hill from then on. I tried to reboot then it gets to where it says welcome and it froze then tried again and it froze on the windows xp load screen. Now my sisters partner is a microsoft certified systems engineer (excuse the spelling). But he said its sounds like it could be a virus but he lives quite far away there for unable to take a look and now I thought I may aswell try and install windows XP pro again to see if it corrects this problem. Now I have had a look at simular cases on the forums in this site but my computer says my hard drive is working fine and the light comes on fine. But while I try and install windows I need to format my C drive so the first time I tried to install windows again it froze when it was loading it up and then 2 times again during the format process it got to 34 % and on my second attempt it got to 24 % and then it totaly froze .I used to kind of run my pc all day and all night sometimes as I am a heavy downloader but during the last month or so I have not been on it as much and it has been off for like 15 hours or more each day. Now I have told you all that I can and I would really be happy if you could give me some sort of answer to help me correct the problem, thank you.

I am not a genius..but after reading your description I feel that your RAM needs to be checked...because you mentioned that the starting part goes through ok...so what i think is that your PC is getting stuck when demanded for more memory (bigger tasks) u know.....there are many downloadable memory testing software you could try...but first try removing the RAM and fixing it back into position because it could be loose.....and if you have 2 slots of memory....then 1 piece may be damaged...try running with 1 piece and exchange to the other if not working still.
