RAM problem

I recently got a new computer that was supposed to have 512 MB of ram. When I checked my computer specs the RAM only showed up as 384 MB. I opened my computer and saw that there was only one 512 MB stick of ram in there meaning that the computer didn't really have 384 MB. I then added another 512 stick which should add up to 1 GB of total RAM. Now it only reads as 896 MB. My computer isn't reading 128 MB of ram, I need help.

I have also noticed that the games Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source aren't running as well as they should with 1 GB of RAM.

Specs:
Running Windows XP OS
896 (should be 1GB) RAM
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ 2.21 GHz
nVidia geForce 6100 graphics card

Exact problem like me my total RAM is 512 MB but my OS show 480 MB
to view your total RAM go to the System Information in Accessories -> System Tools. Here you can view total amount of RAM. otherwise when your pc is boot your bios see some shared memory. my pc shared memory is 32 MB. so my total 480 + 32 = 512 MB.
i hope you can startstand.
