Graphics card no longer complying

Hey guys...

So, this is a weird one. While at work one day I get a call from my mom. She says (in a typical older parent tone) "there's somethin wrong with the computer!" blah blah. Turns out the monitor stopped working

After nearly 24 hours of non-stop research and messing around with my computer (I am not advanced at all...I can barely do anything! I just learn quickly and understand easily...then forget it all), I figure there is a problem with my video card driver.

*Helpful Tip*

I'm getting the dreaded nv4_disp blue screen of DEATH at startup, over and over again. After searching all over the net in Safe Mode with Networking, I realize this fix (for those who get this at start up and can't figure a way to fix it):
First off, my computer stopped recognizing my new video card, an Nvidia GeForce FX5200 low-profile 128MB (the jaton brand). I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers, including the card itself in device manager. I switched over the monitor to the onboard port, but it still wouldn't recognize anything. It just used the generic VGA driver and wouldn't switch over to integrated.
So I ripped the 128 card out, and BAM! Everything was fine (except I'm back to the Intel 82865G 96MB shared card).

Now that fixed the crashing...it all works great. Here is my problem.

When I tried to reinstall my card, I did this:
Disabled the Intel card in device manager (I do not have a BIOS option at startup to disable the card).
I turned off my comp and unplugged the supply.
Popped in the card and switched over the monitor.

This all worked when I bought the card a month ago. It has worked since then, until now. After I got the card in and switched the monitor over to it, I started my comp. The first time, I just got crazy boxes with no progress. The second time...nothing. The monitor continued to be in standby and would not activate. I tried with the monitor in the onboard slot and the new card in, but it didnt work.

Now the only possible difference is that I downloaded a new update for the Intel Integrated card while I was in inter-card limbo today. The card was significantly upgraded. Does it sound like my month-old nvidia is shot? Or am I stupid and missing something? If anyone wants to blab-on with me, here are my specs that I know:

Standard Scum-level slim Gateway from 2003
Proc- Pentium 4 3.06 HT (2)
Mem- 512MB (2 256)
OS- Windows XP Home SP2
MB- Some type of intel motherboard...i dont know what it is, nor does it say on the board
Anything else that's valuable, go ahead and ask.

All my drivers for motherboard and bios are pretty much up-to-date. Remember, my card worked perfectly for at least a month, then just stopped.

If anyone can help, that would be sweet. If not, at least I can steer someone clear of freaking out over the BLUE SCREEN NV4_DISP. I justed took out the card and restarted.

Update:
I tried something...I uninstalled my Intel Extreme Graphics' drivers, then disabled the card. I tried putting in the Geforce and restarted. The monitor works up to loading of XP, then goes black. No nv4_disp, though, since I unistalled the drivers.

I tried in Safe Mode, but the computer recognized the card only as "VGA Compatible." It's almost like XP doesn't have the nVidia drivers it's suppose to have. I found the XP driver on my CD (only recognizing it as XP by the file name...****winXP/win2K.***) and loaded that up under the hardware wizard. The card still cause my screen to go black at startup.

So I downloaded the newest nVidia driver straight from the website (91.31) and rebooted (safe mode, as the screen still went black). It showed FX5200 under device manager, no longer VGA, but under display properties-settings it showed no video card at all. Under dxdiag it showed only VGA. Yet in device manager it shows drivers UP TO DATE. Why is my card not working????

Perhaps, all I can think of, the Windows XP system folders lack my nVidia drivers. Under my OEM drivers cd there are clearly folders for nVidia, Intel, ATI, so on. But it doesn't let me upload them (in safe mode). It only gives me an autorun with a short list of drivers--sound, mouse, and chipset. If anyone may know, please help.

Recap-
-When installing using hardware wizard, the card is read as VGA Compatible.
-At startup, after the black Windows XP loading screen, the screen goes black (when card is in and monitor is through card).
-I want to play Age of Empires III, and I'm really sad...
