Sound Problems

Okay, I reinstalled windows on my PC and my soundcard thingy wasn't installed so I went to the site (E machines) and installed the driver for it, I opened Windows Media player and It plays the audio but no sound. Nothings muted, and all the volume is up. My headphones work, because I tested them in my CD player. heres my specs

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

I have a similar situation

I have a gateway, running windows xp i cant figure out why my multimedia audio controller, isnt working properly, i went to the website for gateway and tried to dl the drivers and all.. but maybe i am doing something wrong
