PCI Firewire Card Question

I recently installed a 1394 PCI Firewire card (3ext/1int) in my desktop computer running Windows XP Pro. Everything is working fine except for one thing. Besides allowing me to connect my 1394 external harddrive, the card shows up as a 1394 net adapter in my device manager. I wasn't expecting this so, can I hook one of these 1394 ports to my network and if so how? The only way I can see to do this is to use a cable with a 1394 male on one end and a male RJ45 on the other. I have never seen one of these or an adapter so I am totally confused. yeah, the biggest use for a firewire network would be to connect 2 computers with firewire ports. i'm not sure if you can buy routers or anything with firewire, but it would be worth a look.
as for firewire to rj-45 wires or adaptors, don't waste time looking. 2 completely different technologies that will not work together.
