Hey everyone!
I've been reading through this thread trying to find the solution to my problem, and I'm hoping that I can get this resolved!
Anyway - I just formatted my Gateway laptop for the first time yesterday, attempting to fix an issue I had with DVD video's playing very choppy, which would then affect the sound too. It would be lots of reverb and a low fps video, which only happened recently. Formatting and installing an old copy of WinXP SP2 worked great, the video is fantastic and smooth, back to the way it was. However, I can now no longer get any sound at all. The official Gateway drivers don't work, and the Realtek AC'97 drivers worked to a point - the problem is that it says "Device Status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
