Fatal Battery error message

I have a compaq armada 7400 6333/T/6.4/D/M/1 laptop and i have battery problems. My sister was using it one day and i tripped over the coard and it came out, the laptop turned off and then we plugged it back in to turn it on. When it turned on it said fatal battery error or just fatal error: battery (this was three years ago, ever since its said the same thing but i forget the exact error message), i installed windows xp on it and it no longer says fatal battery error but the battery still doesnt work. When you unplug it, you get no electrical feed and it shuts off. I cant fit electrical probes in there to test the voltage so i have no idea how charged it is, im guessing zero. But because of tripping over it im also guessing that there is a short, but yet the laptop itself still works, just not the battery. I tore the laptop apart completely down to the mother board off and everything. Theres no simple way to fix it exactly, because i dont have a schematic for the motherboard. There appears to be no shorts in the circuit board, nor any melted wires or anything, however the battery continues to not work. I just looked up on compaq.com and its stupid automatic crap came up with battery calibration. I do not want to put it back together completely just to test that because the symptoms are not the same to its performance, the battery just doesnt work entirely. Its not detuned, it just doesnt work. Could this be a possible solution? because when i unplug the outlet cored it just shuts off, the battery entirely doesnt work. Could someone over there please possibly send me a pdf on the schematic for the mother board? or at least tell me a sollution i could try or confirm the one i have? thanks much
