Headphone jack faulty acer travelmate 2480

Same shit here, I use my travelmate 2040 to hook up to my stereo, spewing, jack stuffed, went through absolutely everything, everywhere, done the stand-by worked for a while until the day came and nothing worked anymore. Reloaded realtek and thousand other patches and fixes, but what got me back, at least to the stand-by fix was the patch below, posted by someone else in the thread here!. Tomorrow I am going to get a USB to jack adapter and I am done with it. Really read everything even in german.
Thanks dudes, cool forum here,
If someone should have the yellow questionmark problem in mass storage controller, download: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated Flash Media Controller. Gets your SD card slot up again.

solution: This should help

No sound from headphone jacks

-. First in Control Panel go to System -Hardware - Device Manager. Double-click on "DVD/CD ROM Drives" and right click on the drive that you want to use and click "properties" on the drop-down menu.

2. Go to the "Properties" tab and uncheck the box "Enable digital cd audio for this device" and press "ok"

3. At this point you may be requested to restart the computer. Do so if you are prompted or the tweak won't work.

4. Then in Windows Media Player go to "Tools" and then "Options". Click the "Device" tab in the window that appears.

5. Select the drive you want to use and then click "Properties.." at the bottom of the window.

6. Under the "Playback" dialogue clck the "Analogue" box and then press "Apply" and "ok".

You should now be able to listen with headphones. But remember you may have to revert these changes if you want to use the drive for playback thru the speakers and for games. Also the sound controls in Media Player do not work for headphones; you only have th evoluem control on the actual drive.

The reason I came back to this site is because that the stand by makeshift tweak no longer work, I reiterate, it no longer work. And animecrazy, is that for xp cause I have vista and I dont have the enable cd audio option.

I do have the same problem as many others here. Mu Acer Aspire 3680 doesn't transmit sound over the headphone jack when I plug one in. I already have tried out all solutions which are suggest here and none worked.

Cheers Tish

FYI: Realtek has end of Juli a package of new software drivers released (below link), version 2.0 for various AAL8xx chipsets.

http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level =4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

I have spent quite some time with the installion of those, but unfortunately it has not resolved the problem.

I have written an email directly to Realtek as I would like to know if this is a known problem and if, yes what the solution is.

*Should* I get a get a feedback from them, I am going to publish this here

ACER TravelMate 3262NWXMi

I have read with interest the various compatability problems with Acer computers and headphone jacks. I have a different one. I had the same thing happen with my headphones stopping working. Then, I took my computer to a repair shop and now I have sound in my headphones but also coming through my speakers!

1) Did anyone find a permanent solution to this headphone problem?
2) Did anyone contact Acer and get any assistance? (I am in Cambodia and it would require me sending my computer to Acer Singapore to get fixed...)

Thanks for any help!

Hey All,

Fairly sure this is a realtek problem -

I had some similar problems with my ASUS F3SC Laptop running realtek.

After going through this entire thread I had no luck at all (thanks anyway).

I sent realtek a lot of emails and got back some rather crap fixes (have you tried un-muting etc etc).

After CC'ing the other tech support depts, the sales team and any other realtek email address I could find I eventually got a fix from them (after having re-installed windows to no avail).

Fisrtly they sent me a file called RtHDDump.exe - this appears to send a signal to the headphones (while plugged in) to see if they respond, hence eliminating the possibility of a damaged headpone port. In my case I knew this wasn't the issue coz I could hear the ASUS jingle (in phones) when the comp was turned on.

Then....... 7 hours later I got a new file from them called RtHDmon.exe.

This fixed it!!!! sort of. I have to manually unmute the headphone everytime I turn the comp on. Not ideal, but a small price to pay for music to my ears

I'm no tekkie whatsoever, but I'm sure it happened when I had audio apps open and tried to put the comp into standby.

If you have the time to wait for a response from realtek try sending your problem to pctech@realtek.com. CC me in too and I'll see if I can send you the files faster. Maybe they'll put me on they're payroll. lol. Include a link to this thread so they know how frustrated people are becoming with this issue.

I only hope you aren't using ASUS because they're tech support is disgraceful.

good luck

Unhappy No sound

I've got the same problem with my acer aspire 3681 laptop. I've send an email to pctech@realtek.com two days ago, but they haven't responded yet. I hope you can send me the file quicker .

Well, I think that I've found the solution. Maybe it is not a solution for the problem itself, but after restart headphone jack in my acer 3682 works just fine.

In my case, enablig headphone jack is possible by disabling for 15 seconds Realtek soundcard in device manager.

So I created bat file which do that.

@echo off
devcon disable HDAUDIO\FUNC_01
sleep 15
devcon enable HDAUDIO\FUNC_01

devcon is a command-line device manager - it can be downloaded from microsoft page.
sleep is typical command which causes system waiting for n seconds - also can be downloaded for free.

Then I created shortcut which starts this bat file in minimized mode and I put it into autostart folder.

good luck.
