PSU problem I think

Hi hope someone can help or shed some light on my second PC.
The PC was running ok, then it lost power, check fuse in the Power lead going to the PSU (the fuse had blown, so replaced the fuse), plugged the Power lead in & turned the pc on, then the fuse in the PSU blow (saying there is a short somewhere) replaced the fuse, then 1 of the heatsink in the PSU (PSU is a COLORS IT 350w ATX P4 12v Model no.330U) flashed and then the mains plug blow again.
So I am thinking the PSU is U/S? Any views
Also if is the PSU, the one in the pc at the mo is a 350w, can I bump the PSU up to 450w or 500w, would this cause any problems.
It’s the kids PC which they play Sims and other games on, and as long as there’s is out they are trying to get on mine. Kids a.
Thanks,
Mark
Also any views on which would be a good replacement PSU but not to expensive

The PC has been working fine for nearly a year till this happened.

Hi zipperman,
The Power lead (the power lead is the cable going from the plug socket to the PSU) going to the PSU (Power Supply Unit) this power lead is then plugged into a surge and spike protector.
The fuse in the power lead plug blow first, I replaced this then the fuse in the PSU blow.
This is on a separate circuit as the fridge also I should have said I live in the UK in Devon we are on a 240v.
But like I said the PC has been working fine for nearly a year till this happened.
Hope this makes more sense.

Mark

The power supplies that has removable fuses were very old. In any power supply if the fuse blows, take it out and toss it. New power supply in Australia can be obtained for AUD$25, about 18 quid.

Thanks Biggles77,
I have now replaced the PSU, but still no power to the pc, changed the power lead to the PSU, so I might have fried the motherboard . So I am now getting that check out.
Thanks for help,
Mark
