Flashing Screen

Hi,

The LCD screen on my Dell Inspiron 5150 notebook is just flashing red, green, blue, white and black constantly. System appears to boot, I can hear the startup sounds. Have connected to monitor and all appears to work, just not the screen. Is the LCD faulty itself, or some other component?? Any ideas appreciated. Am thinking or ordering new screen and installing myself.
