Computer starts, but screen stays black
Hi,
I just got my Acer Aspire 1520 laptop back from maintenence after it had crashed and couldn't boot.
Now I have a new problem.
Before the most recent crash, everything appeard to work.
I was working in my HTML editor, and I had two monitors running, and had windows to make the desktop continue over to the next monitor, like most people have on their dual-monitor workstations.
Then my computer froze for about 5-10 seconds, then it shut down.
Now when I try to start it, I hear everything starting perfectly normal, but the screen stays black. I don't even see the "Acer" logo, there's just nothing.
I tried starting the computer with my IBM monitor connected to it, and tried without. I tried leaving the computer for a couple of hours alone (this actually sometimes work with stuff!), but nothing worked.
Hardware specs:
Video card: NVidia GeForce FX Go5700
OS: Windows XP SP2
I fear that I've overloaded the videocard, but there were already dual monitor support for my computer installed, so I guess it's covered by the warranty if the card is dead.
Edit:
After I've searched the web around for people with similar problems, I must say again that I can not see anything at all on my laptop monitor. I can't see the white, blinking line in the top left corner, I can't enter the BIOS settings etc.
There is nothing. It's like turning on a computer, without turning on the monitor.
:-) Thanks in advance.
