Monitor divides in 4 portions and login lag

Hi,

I'm not sure this is hardware related, but I assume it is. I have 2 problems and am not sure they are related to each other, but I place them in the same thread just in case they are.
I have an A6Vm asus notebook with XP home.

1) about once a month when I turn on my notebook, I get a black screen (no splash or windows logo) and then I get the windows logon screen, but not once but displayed 4 times at once in 2 rows of 2 columns. After turning the computer off and on again, everything is ok again.

2) once a week whenever I logon, I just get the blank desktop. No taskbar, no startmenu, no icons. It can take upto 10 minutes for them to appear. The only thing I can do is ctrl-alt-del and then run a program from File>New Task.

I thought the problem was due to drivers, so I formatted my harddrive, reinstalled XP clean and installed all newest drivers...but the problem remains.

ANybody got any idea...please?

Thnx.
