Computer cannot locate GeForce Fx 5200 graphics card

Ok, now on feb 26,2007 i purchased a GeForce Fx 5200 Agp 8x graghics card with 256mb of memory. Now i insert it into the Agp slot and plug in the monitor now it gets to the Microsoft XP loading screen and my monitor acts as if its not connected into the computer. I try putting it in when my computer is on and insert the installation cd.It says it cant be found .I also disable my on board graphics and it doesn't work. What should i do i mean im very frustrated with it .So can anyone help me.

Your AGP slot may not be totally AGP x8 compatible. It may be only an AGP x4 slot. Now, while faster cards have to be backwards compatible in terms of speed, it's not always as simple as that. Read this:
