I took out the sound card to get the name off it. I feel rather foolish that I didn't check this before; there was a cable coming from the CD drive that was plugged into the "aux in" instead of the "CD in".

Help! i cant seem to get my sound going. Device manager isnt finding a driver and I do not know what kind it is or where to get a driver to make my sound work.

I just reinstalled XP and that is the only thing not working.

Hi
I have just reinstalled windows xp on my computer (a third time today) and can't seem to fix the problem with the multimedia audio controller. Under Device manager it appers there's something wrong with the driver

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I reinstalled the driver and when the installation finished, the computer crashed (a black screen appeared and then the computer rebooted). It kept crashing after just 20 sec into the login process afterwards.
Please help! I have no idea what's causing it. Is this a hardware problem or is it just the driver?

What Advent model is it, look for a label, if not sure then Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section it may give the board

Check to see if Realtek is the default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install
