This is the link to your Acer drivers http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/as_5600.html

audio is Realtek High Definition

but check this out
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Hope this helps

Multimedia audio controller's drivers are not installed

Hello,I'v got a problem with my notebook.I cannot install audio driver.
It says that the multimedia audio controller's drivers are not installed.
Im running Windows XP home SP 2 I have Intel(R)Celeron(R)M processor 1.50GHz,248 MB of RAM.It's Gateway MX6121.
The error message given is:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
And when i click reinstall driver it says that it cannot find the available driver.
I've downloaded driver from Gateway site but it still does not work.I have no idea to fix it.
Please, somebody help me.

try installing this way, use the If No Setup File method

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver, the stored driver files are here C:\Cabs\Conexant_Audio_6.14.10.0565
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Just a thought.

On some of the newer systems the drivers for sound require directX 9 before the driver will install and it usually doesnt tell you thats the issue.
