Multimedia Audio Controller

I have a quick problem. My Multimedia Audio Controller is unable to start. Then it is followed by (code10).. whatever that means. My troubleshooter only tells me to uninstall and then restart. This worked a couple times and now it still won't start. I'm not sure if I need a new one even though the properties section said it was functioning properly, still without starting.

I have a POS Dell Dimension 2400
Multimedia Controller: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
