Right then, open up My Computer, and check out your CD ROM drive Icon, put in a CD and does your Icon change? or do you get a quick egg timer?
If no.. Right click on the drive and click on "Explore" See if anything appears.
If no, then have you got a Windows XP/ Vista/ Linux or other bootable CD?
If you have none, have you got a Norton Anti Virus CD (This is bootable)
If you have any of the above, try and boot from your CDROM drive, and if it "does" hopefully boot up off of it, then you know it's a Windows problem (Depending obviously on your OS)
If it doesn't boot, then you could have a drive issue or a motherboard / IDE Controller problem.
