Motherboard issue?

Hey, i have just recently bought a new motherboard, and it was broken
so i thought i'd re-install my old motherboard, but the only problem with this is that when i turn it back on, the keyboard and mouse do not work and when it gets past the Windows XP screen it resets itself.

Any help please?
And if you need my system specs i can get them.

EDIT: Im running a 2 year old 1core processor on windows XP

It could be a number of things that are effecting this, is this the reason you replaced your motherboard?

Have you tried booting from an XP or other bootable CD to see if it loads passed the XP splash screen?

Usually with an XP CD it won't do this but load in to the recovery console where you can run a test on your Hard drive using chkdsk /r

Have you tried to download a memory test?

If your PC passes the HDD and RAM test with flying colours, then I'd go for a full reinstall of your system.

If the fault continues after doing this, then have you got anything plugged into your PC? i.e. printer, broadband, webcam etc? If yes, remove them all and boot up your PC..Any difference?

Have you got any damaged USB ports? You need to rule all of these out clearly before attempting to swap your mobo again, are there any damage parts on the motherboard itself?

When it resets itself, does it restart, or turn off? Does it come back on straight away?

Can you test your PC in bios? does it stay on? If it stays on, then it's not an over heating issue, if it turns off in BIOS, then check out your CPU / Heatsink & Fan and have it cleaned out of any dust.

Ive tried loading using the XP boot disk, but when i get into anything where i have to type the keyboard and mouse cut out, i've tried using many types of keyboards, from USB to PS/2 keyboards and mouses, but none of them work.

And i can load into my BIOS fine and it will not turn itself off.
But when i start to load the windows settings it just Resets itself, it doesn't turn off.

And my computer has passes the HDD and RAM tests fine.
