question on my pc's performance
hi, i built myself a computer at the end of summer, but it doesn't seem to be performing nearly as well as it should
important specs:
500w psu
e6550 core 2 duo 2.33ghz NOT oc'd
evga 8600gts 256mb NOT oc'd
evga 650i NF66 mobo not sli
2 gb's ocz pc26400 800mhz RAM NOT oc'd
1 harddrive and 1 optical drive
running windows xp service pk 2

cpu runes iddle at 30-35 C
gpu iddles at 56-59 C
gpu under stress is around 63-68C
dunno about cpu

well heres the problem... sometimes, when i play games, they will randomly crash with windows error message or just simply close
also, in bf2 (which i should be able to run max seetings no prob) on medium settigns 1280x1024, if i climb to the top of a tower or some high point and look around, the ground has random black splotches, as if the texture just wasn't there.
there is rarely any lag
i lowered texture setting to low and put the rest on high w/ 4x AA, and there is no such problem, even in a jet at high altitudes

so i decided to do a bench mark test, using 3DMark03
i got
3DMark Score 11564 3DMarks
CPU Score 1470 CPUMarks
another system it compared to got
3DMark Score 17775
exactly the same cpu and gpu
any help?
ps. i've heard that the nvidia monitorview is unreliable for tempurates, which is what im using. as precautions, i have visual alerts set for cpu if it reaches 70C and gpu if it reaches 100C
never seen an alert, so i don't think its overheating
