Angry Graphics card, XP and games

Using xp and having trouble with playing certain games. Whe load up either GTA3, GTA4, delta force (latest) then it crashes on the title screen causing my comp to reboot. I have installed all the updates for my hardware. CPU temp is running at 45C. Didn't used to have any touble with my old motherboard so don't know if related but expect it to be ok(?!) . Basically all the menus work ok, then when try and play single player it causes a reboot. Startig to piss me right off as doesn't happen on other games i.e. been playing return to castle Wolvestine at the top specs and everything run perfectly. Have run the dixdiag thingy and nothing seems to be wrong.

Also seems that windows is cocking up my c-drive disk space, says that i have 5GB (ish) total and that have only 500mb free except when i go into all the folder etc then i can only find about 2.5GB. Doesn't seem to be a problem with my other 2 partitioned drives. Have tried scan disk but doesn't detect anything wrong.

Cheers to anyone that can help as getting fed up with trying to sort it out with my little computer knowledge!

Cheers Shaun, doesn't really answer my question although just makes me think that i've got a crap graphics card! It's the fact that i doin't understand why i can play certain 3d accelerated games perfectly and others cause my comp to crash. Anymore help would be greeatly recieved!

Also does anyone else have a problem with their soltek motherboard constantly overheating? I've had to leave the case side always off to prevent it reaching critical temperatures!

Cheers

first off your card is only the bog standard one sorry to say it that way but you seriously need to think of upgrading it especially playing games like GTA3 and 4 you should go for the TI sderies you can pick a good TI4200 and 4400 for around the £65 to £75.

have you made sure you have the latest patches for your games also it may be a good idea to get a bit more memory maybe get another 128 megs it is very cheap sdram now you could pick a stick up for no more than £10 on www.ebay.co.uk.

if you can play games ok and some won't then it is probably patches you need for the games that boot you back to desktop.

i have 512 ddr ram xp pro a TI4400 graphic acrd and playing Max Payne is no good it boots me to the desktop untill i downloaded the patch now it works great, so keep that ijn mind.

so check for patches get a bit more memory and try when you can to get a better graphic card, it has got nothing to do with your motherbaord mate.
