Help - Laptop sound has suddenly gone

My sound has just dissapeared on my Thinkpad T22, it was working fine, then I went out of the room, came back and it wasnt working ! I have no conflicts in device manager, I have no beeps or any windows startup/shutdown melodies. How can i fix this ?

Go into control panel > sound and audio devices> and check that your sound card is set as the default player.
