MBR and booting

Out of nowhere, my hard drive refuses to boot and I get an error message stating: Invalid Boot Diskette. Now, is it possible that the Stealth_C virus could have destroyed my Master Boot Record, disabling any attempt to boot. Is there some software that can recreate my MBR? I booted off of a floppy and tried FDISK but it said that it could not find any physical drives. The drive spins when it has power and it does a self-check as well.

Does the drive show as a device after the POST?
