Laoptop screen DOWN,VERY dark...

Hi,

i have benn reading the forum and so i decided to join because i´m sure i´m gonna find the answer here,

my PROBLEM seems to be with my backlight / inverter(is it the same?)...
i have a toshiba satellite m40-129. it seems to be a "regular" problem with toshibas. laptop was standing on the table, close. as i came back to use it, was the screen very very dark. so dark, i first thought it was down a then i realised, i cuold see some sort of shadows... the problem is not the light regulation (Fn + Monitor Key)

i conected another monitor and everything worked well...
another thing to mention is that when i turn on te computer or new started, i was able to see that the screen worked fine but just for haft a second or a full second...

again, i´m guessing from what i read in the forum, the problem is the backlight, unfurtunatly, not everyone tells the end of the story and write how everything worked out.

any comments?

so far what i got is: buy on e-bay a new backlight and change it by myselft.

Your assumption of the problem is what I would think, but I wouldn't buy any spares until I checked for other problems first.

i think i´m taking it to an expert, so i won´t
do any mistake..
