power save mode

hi, i`ve just purchased a media pc, when i try to boot up vista it goes straight into power saving mode and won`t come out of it no matter what i hit on the keyboard or click the mouse, if it helps i can get a signal on safe mode, but that`s it? any thoughts?

Turn off power saving in safe mode, or check the bios to see if it's enabled.
I set my PC so only the power switch wakes it. it's to stop the thing coming on every time you touch the worktop. Maybe yours is too.

thanks for the advice but i`d be the first to admit i`m not the greatest computer wizard to ever walk the earth, how do i go about doing this, i don`t even know what bios is- don`t flame me!
