need help with sound...

ive just formated my computer and now having issues with sound it used to have sound and now its stopped working... can you help????

from the comp device manager, its 'saying'

other devices.
(?!)multimedia audio controller
(?!)pci simple communications controller

my computer specs:

operating system winXP
Amd athlon xp 1.8ghz
40gb hard drive
board: KM400-8235
i think its a gygabyte board... it doesnt say on the board itself.

Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy
Then open post – right click mouse – select Paste and the report will insert.It usually shows the board
