Humming Cooling Fan

The cooling fan on my video card is humming. I tried cleaning it with those cans of CO2, but it's still humming. I'm afraid it's about to quit working, but I have no idea of where to get a fan this size. Anyone know a website that offers a large selection of fans? BTW, it's an Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4200

Thanks!

I Hope you got the fan Curlybob sugested. I bought it & am happy wiyh it. I had to lap it. It took me about 45 min. to lap. The base was pretty ruff. I am running my Ti4200 at 301x524 & my temps run about 112 F under a load.

Explain what you did to install the new fan and remove the old. Just by looking at my card, it looks like it will be different than any other fan i've ever done.

Thanks,

The fan & HS on my Gforce Ti4200 was glued on. It scared me for about 3 days before I tried it. On my card I could see light under part of it. I laid a plastic card on the card & used a dull butter knife to pry it off. (it was a very loud pop when it came off) I used alcohol & soft cloth to get the sticky stuff off the card processor. My card has 2 holes in it & the new fan & HS has nylon pins that pushed thru the holes. ( I have done my Girlfriends card since then too) The new fan wasn't very good on the bottom & I used wetdry sand paper to lap it. I started with 400 grit then 800 then 1200 then 1500. The bottom shines like a mirror now. The scariest part was getting the nerve to pry on a card that cost more than $100. I am happy with the results & I would do it again. If there is anything esle I can help with let me know.

What do you mean by "the new fan wasn't very good on the bottom?" What steps did you take to reattach the heatsink?
Just wondering what I should look for. Thanks a lot.

www.guru3d.com has some articles on lapping. & www.overclockersclub.com has a good article on the Geforce4 copper cooler. What I'm saying when the bottom didnt look good is ideally the contact area where the fan touches the card processor should have a mirror finish. I hope this helps.

Angry

Looks like www.guru3d.com is having some SQL trouble. I'll keep trying to get through. FedEx is scheduled to delivery my new fan Monday, so hopefully i'll be able to check in to it soon. Thanks for your help. By the way, I'm selling my old GeForce 2 on eBay. Bidding starts @ $5.00 if anyone is interested ;-). Check it out here.

Not too bad, not too good. I have tons of computer experience, but this is one area i've never dabbled in. I wasn't exactly sure what to do with the goop they sent me, and had a very hard time getting the push-pins to through. The lapping part went just fine thanks to the guide at overclockersclub.com, and after a little work I now have the new fan on. Sounds great, that is, it doesn't sound at all! Thanks for the help.
