USB 2.0 not detecting for new motherboard

i recently purchased a new pc.
It has a ASUS M2A-VA-HDMI motherboard. Although the manual says that it supports USB 2.0, it uses USB 1.1 interface whenever i plugin a USB device. It is so for all the USB ports(front and rear). not any single one of them.

The Motherboard has 3 sockets/jacks for USB (USB 910, USB 78, USB 56). The USB cable is inserted in the USB 910 slot. I tried changing the USB cables to connect to the other jacks but still I get the same result.

I have WIN XP SP2 running and the motherboard drivers are updated. All other devices are running fine except this.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

have you tried a device that needs USB 2.0, and does it give an error that it needs USB2.0

But of course The message that pops out is "This device can perform faster if connected to a hi speed USB 2.0 port"

I too had this problem. MS have a 'hotfix'. Go to the Knowledge site and download the hotfix from there:

The issue is resolved now

i reinstalled windows and the USB started working fine.
