Sound not working [PLEASE HELP!]

OK Im new to this but experienced in pc shinanigans so Ill try to explain whats wrong.

Im on a Dell Dimension 4600.
I reformatted the drive and the internet and sound wasnt working. I fixed the internet after using my laptop to get drivers, but the sound is what gave me the trouble. Ive been trying to get drivers and nothing works.

I think its worth mentioning that I got this pc off a friend. He had a sound card in it and took it out before he gave it to me. He said that he had this pc a while before he even got the sound card so I dont think it NEEDS it to have sound.

When I go into the sound option in the control panel EVERYTHING is grayed out. I go to My computer, properties, hardware, device manager, sound and its all audio codecs and stuff. I tried 'enabling' all of them but every one of them is grayed out too.

Any help is greatly appreciated, if you need to know more info please ask,
Kief

Ok I downloaded the analog devices driver but when I went to install it the installation failed because "the audio driver files do not support your computer hardware."

Any other ideas?

I used your service tag to get that result. You have a second sound card?

Use everest and print the summary option: http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?ps=CE&lang=en
