Sound won't work after changing OS

I have a Toshiba Satellite P205-S6307 Laptop. It came with Vista and I hated it so we took it off and installed XP Pro SP2. We've tried and tried to find a driver that will work the sound card, all to no avail. The sound card is the Intel 82801 GMB ICH7-M High Definition Audio Controller. I stumbled across a link on Google here and tried the drivers referenced in it because with the exception of the other posters computer being a Compaq, he had the same audio card and DVD drive. I know, silly to think it would work. But I'm desperate.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

With the exception of the built in web cam, the sound is the only other thing that I can't get working. I don't really care about the web cam, but I do miss having sound.

Also, while I'm at it, since I can't get any information from Pioneers website about what file types are recognized by my DVD player, any guidance on where to look for that info?
