Realtek HD Audio Microphone not working

Have a HP laptop and it hasn't given me any troubles until I went to make a video blog and the sound didnt get picked up by my microphone. I have had a good read of these posts, changed volumes, checked updates, played around a bit tried everything I know plus some things I read and its still won't work. Can anyone help me?
