no dvd/cd drive found

My dvd/cd drawer will not open and when trying to start the game that is stuck in the drawer an error appears saying "no dvd/cd drive can be found". This was has been woking perfectly fine for the past year.

Please help....

You should have a small hole under the CD tray that comes out on the face of the dvd/cd player.You can take a small paper clip straighten it out and probe in the hole until you activate the release mechanism.

Thanks for this, but the problem still persists that my laptop cannot find the drive. It starts working for a little while then it stops again. Any ideas???

I would suggest trying to reinstall the driver. It's possible that the driver has gotten corrupted. It's worth a shot.
