Black screen after installing RAM

Hello, I have a 512mg in my DIMM1 and I just installed a 512mb drr3200 in my DIMM2 and after I reboted, it caused my screen to go black. I removed the new ram and restarted and it loaed back to normal. Now I went online and did some reading and reset my bios/cmos by removing the watch battery from the mobo. Then I reset it and it asked for my date and then started up fine. So this time, I reinstalled the second ram into the DIMM2 and also removed the watch battery, reinstalled the watch battery and restarted, now it's just the black screen, tried switching out the new ram and nothing, still black screen....

here are my specs from belarc

System Model
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (build 2600) VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M800-8237
Enclosure Type: Desktop
Processor a Main Circuit Board b
2.67 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Board: P4M800-8237
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 08/04/2005

any help is appreciated

Okay I fuddled with it a little more and got it to boot up and into windows. I am running on one ddr 333mhz 512mb from crucial.com, (the new PNY ram is a ddr 400mhz 512mb which is currently back in it's packaging), if I get another PNY 400mhz, it should work? Thanks

Some motherboards are very choosy when it comes to using more than one stick of ram. Some of them don't like a mis-match of brand, while some don't even like a mis-match of ram specifications even when same brand. I had endless problems like that. In the end I bought two identical 512MB sticks at the same time, threw out the one I already had and those two work just fine.

So, yes, having two sticks same brand should cure your problem but they might also need to be exact same spec. That's why I bought two matching sticks at same time. I wasn't going to take any more chances of them still not working together.
