system missing error: hdd connection problem?

Hello, I am new here. I got a problem with my hp pavilion zt3300. My system is xp sp3. recently, I encountered the same problem twice:

About a week ago, when I was in the middle of doing something with my laptop, suddenly I saw the blue screen and when I managed to restart, there was nothing on the screen. I tried to start with my xp cd, after a while, it told me that there were no hdd to install the xp system. I took out my hdd from the back of my laptop and reinstall it. when I restart the laptop, it went smoohtly, everything worked well. Today, the same problem occurred and I had to do the same (took part of my hdd and reinstall back) thing to make it work again. I suspect if there is a hdd connection problem between the hdd and mother board.

It never happened before, I just wonder if there is a fix about this problem, or I am facing to get a new laptop soon?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

John

Strange as it may seem, I had a similar problem where removing/replacing hard drive seemed to fix for a while but it always kept bugging me. It proved to be nothing to do with a faulty hard drive at all. One of the drivers I'd just installed (for my wireless PC card) was old version and causing trouble. I got newest version from Netgear website and everything's okay now. As I said, strange but true.

I'm not saying it will work for you (and of course in your case it may be a different driver) but I thought I should mention it.

If you suspect the HD may be starting to fail, download the testing/diagnostic tool from it's manufacturer's website. All HDD makers have such a tool but they are intended for use only on that make.

Thanks, the HDD is all right, I checked with HDD regenerator 1.51 even without any bad sectors. I'll check all drivers. Thanks again!
