cannot get graphics card working again

hi,having a little difficulty getting my card working again.Here whats going on.my geforce4 mx 440 se 64mb card stop working its giving me red lines on my monitor and when i go into device manager its showing three monitors installed also when i go to display settings its showing dual monitor is enabled but they r both the same monitor and i cant set my resolution any higher then 800 by 600.Now with the geforce2 mx 100/200 card im using now it works fine using same drivers.geforce4 card started displaying problems after i downloaded drivers from the site they were 80.01 or something and it said they were not tested with microsoft.Here is what ive tried to do to trouble shoot the problem i uninstalled the drivers i downloaded went to regedit to make sure they where gone installed 28.87 drivers and still same results.tried in another computer still same results.Ive also recently reformated drive so i could install a dual operating system and the card still wont work.it will run from windows default drivers and all ill get is red lines.Also from the moment i boot untill i get on the desktop my display is garbled.Is card screwed or is there hope any help greatly appreciated.Here are my specs.Aopen athlon 2000,xp home sp1,linux ubuntu,160 gb hd,1.66ghz.1.24gb ram, hp dvd 640 light scribe burner,liteon dvdrom,cdrom,cdrw,2 floppies,aopen 56k modem,agere 56k modem,

I'm guessing it's not a driver or Windows problem. The mx 440se card itself has developed a fault.
