Laptop Won't Turn On

Not that long ago my boyfriend was working on my laptop and it decided to turn itself off. To troubleshoot, i tried taking the battery out and turning it on with just the charger plugged in, to no avail. I then tried taking the battery out, holding the on button for 30 secs then putting the battery back in, which didnt work, the lights dont come on when the charger is plugged in. I then opened it up to check the motherboard for faulty connections or blown components, and there werent any. I even changed the lithium battery on the motherboard in case it wasnt being powered. Still not working

However, my dad mentioned a few lamps that had been blown by the mains socket my boyfriend had the laptop plugged into, so if a new charger wont fix the problem does anyone have any other ideas as to what is wrong?

Oh and it's a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li1705 running on Vista, if that helps

Hi, is you have tried to start it with and without the battery and nothing has happen then I would fear the worst, the M/B is fried. Not sure what the law is in your country but claiming on insurance may be an option.
Sorry if it wont turn on there are few options.

May be this is a bit too late, my laptop won't power up, no display, kep try to access hdd, turn out is a bad memory stick cause the problem. I can boot
up the pc without the memory sticks, then isolate down to which stick is the bad one.
