Incompatible resolution

My brother just got a new computer (pre-owned) and the reolution was to low, we set it higher and now the screen is black with a message saying

"Input Not Supported"
we can't see the screen to change the resolution and we don'y know what to do
could somebody please help

never mind, i've fixed it

I had to restart the computer in VGA mode then change the resolution back to normal then restart the computer
