need help with restarting laptop

Hello everybody,

Well I've had this laptop since 2005. its an HP but im not sure of the model. i really dont know very much about computers. it all started a few weeks ago when i turned on my computer and the screen froze and got all messed up. after that the computer wouldnt even start. i would press the power button and there would be some noise for a few seconds then off. i tried again yesterday and it worked again for about 30 minutes then off. i got it to work a few times but everytime it restarts itself. and sometimes it still just goes for a few seconds before it goes off. any help would be greatly apreciated. if you need more information to diagnose my problem just ask and i will answer to the best of my ability.

Hi, if it will not even start but for only a few seconds it sounds like the M/B or CPU is damaged. This being the case the cost of repairing is not worth it.
The only thing you can try is to remove the back cover and completly clean the board and cpu and check all cables are connected by romoving them and reconnecting them.
