Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 Ultra Problems
A few months ago I put my laptop (Dell XPS M170, 1GB RAM, Pentium M 2.00 GHz, Nvidia GForce Go 6800 Ultra) started showing these lines on both the Dell BIOS and boot screens, but when Windows booted, there were none. Also, playing games would cause the display to corrupt then the computer crashed. When I tried reinstalling the drivers, it wouldn't acknowledge that they were installed (no GeForce tabs in Display Properties nor custom display resolutions above 1600x1200 when normally it would go all the way to 1920x1200). Also, Device Manager said the drivers were not installed. I tried reinstalling the driver several times with no luck. I figured maybe it was the card, but had no choice but to continue using it as it was (and still is) my only computer. About two weeks ago I started having these vertical rows of blue boxes on the desktop all the time. The only time they didn't show up was over white or certain shades of blue (this was most apparent when watching video). Then it got to the point where I flat almost couldn't read the screen. In addition to the blue lines, there were now multicolored lines on colored images, black lines on white, and scrolling turned everything black and unreadable unless you highlighted it with the mouse. That went on for a few days up until today when I turned the computer on. The other lines were gone and all that are on it right now are just the blue lines that it started with. I'm thinking it could be either a virus or maybe the card is loose somehow. Surely the card itself couldn't be going bad, and if it was, I would think it would gradually get worse, not worse then better. Any ideas?
