Hello.
My friend asked me to format and install XP on her weird unbranded laptop (which i believe to be an Advent Laptop due to the model# (331) and serial# on the bottom of the PC)
The lappy is now up and running with XP Prof SP3, but i cant get the sound to work. The Multimedia Audio Controller in Device Manager is not recognized, and is thus marked by a yellow questionmark.
I have found out by using Everest Home Ed. that my soundcard is an ATI SB450 AC'97 Audio Controller. I've been looking far and wide for the drivers, and i downloaded some from ATI's homepage, which didnt work, i got some off Realtek's homepage (which i believe were the same and they didnt work either). So i googled some more and read somewhere that sound card and video card were somehow connected, or there could be some sort of hardware compatibility issue or somethin. So I ended up downloading Southern Bridge Chipset updates for the gfxcard (its an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M). It didn't help either.
Northern Bridge is RS482M. I don't really know what this is and i couldn't fine any updates for it either so far.
So I ask you please, help me. It would be very appreciated.
