Exclamation mabye old and typical

ok toshiba thats certain

A200 - 205 series
or so says the non-usuable from scratch cracked toshiba recovery disks labels

serial number/part number
rubbed right off the tag still there but now blank

i suggested this brand to a busker in san francisco...a street musician...the restore cds were actually used a couple or three times in the years he owned it...but i wasnt there when he bought it... he paid cash and tossed the receipts and the books and warranty papers and activated but never registered it with toshiba ...
now the hard drives crashed and he says hey i cant get them to work

and of course the rescue partition is simply gone....he once tried installing linux to experiment with it then out the restores in to put it back but did not make the partition again

so i am logged on here on my a305
and digging about i find there are what three dozen or so A2xx series machines

so here its the only other definitive thing i know
the fcc sticker does designate the radio device built in as
rt8187b
no it is NOT RTL8187B and those drivers do not get recognized

now i have been able to gather and collect some 2 gigabytes of possible drivers to try
plus a lovely xip file of a supposed toshiba driver backup
and an entire slew of driver packs

but in fact there is no way to have any idea of where to start choosing

so reading here i see a mention of everest

now i have managed to use slipstream to a winxpsp2 and the iaastor drivers to boot and install the winxp pro onto the hard drive
but i am missing of course these same core drivers

ETHERLAN
WLAN
VIDEO
VIDEO VGA
SM BUS
PCI
and UNKNOWN

i am hoping there is a possibilty that this everest will give me enough more information to possibly narrow down they list of possibilities of what system this might actually be with no way of knowing the serial

any suggestions before i post more info would be extremely helpful

What's the product code? It might say on the base, something like PLC0, or something similar.

Go to control panel, system, hardware, Device manager, right click on the "unrecognised devices" (1 at a time of course), proprties, details tab this will give something similar to: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229&SUBSYS_005C1014&REV_02\4&172 A2BDD&0&00F0

VEN_8086 will give the vendor of the device
DEV_1229 will give the device name
go to http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and you will find theactual vendor and the device -then you can search for correct drivers.
A bit tedious but should sort you out.
