Laptop motherboard / hard disk

Hi

I'm having a problem with my laptop for the past few months. It is a HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop. Sometimes the hard disk isn't detected at all and it restarts again and again.Usually when I wait a few hours and turn it on and off a few times, it detects the hard disk again and loads.I've tried about everything (removing static electricity and replacing RAM slots), but it didn't work.It is strange that it works sometimes and sometimes not. I think it might be the motherboard / IO controllers that is causing all the trouble. Are there anything I can do about it?

1 thing you could do is try and put a new HDD in the machine, see if it works then. If it doesn't, then of course you need to get your motherboard replaced by either your self, or a repair centre. I say that cos you say it's intermittent, and HP 6000s are good machines, but fail on the stupidest thing.
