Having Problem with Mouse Wheel

i just bought a new Sensonic Glaser Mouse G30 few days ago. i couldnt use the mouse wheel for scrolling like firefox or internet explorer but I can click the wheel (as in, enable the mode where you can move the mouse up and down and let the page scroll with it) and it scrolls perfectly well. im using windows xp sp2. i've checked the setting for the mouse at control panel there( printers and other hardware > mouse) and it says the mouse works properly. so what's the wrong with the new mouse i bought?

u didnt get what i mean....i scrolled the mouse wheel but the page wouldnt move up or down
